Swami Dayananda Ashram, based in the land of spiritual knowledge-Rishikesh, is a peaceful centre located on the banks of the sacred Ganga River. It was established in the 1960s by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, a renowned teacher of Vedanta and one of the foremost scholars of Sanskrit in the modern era. Devotees from all over India and abroad visit the Ashram to learn, reflect, and grow spiritually in a calm and conducive environment.

The Ashram is set in a quiet and scenic surroundings, ideal for study and contemplation. It is easily accessible—just 21 kilometers from Dehradun Airport and 3 kilometers from the Rishikesh Railway Station.

One of the main features of the Ashram is the Lord Gangadhareshwar Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, where daily worship and special pujas are performed regularly. The Ashram also houses the Adhishthanam—the samadhi shrine of Pujya Sri Swamiji Dayananda Saraswati, where devotees offer prayers, and meditate in the serene atmosphere. Other facilities include a well-stocked library and Book store with a wide collection of books on Vedanta, Sanskrit, Indian scriptures, and spiritual traditions. A fully functional Annakshetram (dining hall) provides simple, healthy, and sattvic vegetarian food to all students, guests, and residents. These features, along with the Ashram’s peaceful setting and welcoming environment, make it a meaningful destination for spiritual seekers.

The Ashram is known as Arsha Vidya Pitham, which means "a seat of learning rooted in the teachings of the ancient rishis (sages)." It serves as a unique place to study Vedanta and Sanskrit in English, while still following the traditional way of teaching known as sampradaaya lineage-based method passed down through generations. Important spiritual texts such as the Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Brahma Sutra and other Vedantic works are studied in depth.

Students also learn Sanskrit grammar based on the classical Paninian system, along with Vedic chanting, which is an essential part of the spiritual practice. Throughout the year, the Ashram also hosts short-term courses, and spiritual retreats conducted by Arsha Vidya teachers, many of whom were initiated by Swami Dayananda Saraswati. These programs focus on topics such as Vedanta, yoga, meditation, and spiritual living, and attract both new and returning students from around the world.

With its deep connection to tradition, experienced teachers, and inspiring atmosphere, Swami Dayananda Ashram continues to be a special place for those seeking knowledge, peace, and inner growth.
